Smash capitalism or erode it? Not exactly a new point of ideological contention.. interesting though to see solidarity economy explicitly critiqued.

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode of Rev Left Radio, totally on point for me. They take Douglas Rushkoff's book Team Human as a jumping off point to talk about technology and social media and the ways in which it alienates rather than liberates, when appropriated by capitalism.

@strypey @resist1984 @sphinxc0re @Gina I've gone for a kind of middleground approach - I don't crosspost everything, but I follow some people on Twitter via my reader app, plenty of interesting people still there. To interact I reply to them there via Bridgy, and put my Mastodon/website in my bio/handle. Maybe I'll pique the interest of someone to check the Fediverse now and then, without feeding the beast too much.

Really interesting article. It reiterates well one of the huge possibilities of social media: allowing previously silenced voices to be made public, and surfacing injustices previously hidden. I think the article strangely ignores the centralisation of social media though, which essentially means it is mediated again. I think open web technologies can be a counter to that.

@erosdiscordia Nice! That's an epic word count. This is my first year - I started yesterday on a whim. Just doing 2000 words took a looong time but I really enjoyed it. I started with an empty page and just got writing. I don't really have a clue what I'm doing 😅

Boom, I wrote 2020 words for first day of my first #NaNoWriMo!

Really enjoyed it... but can't spend this much time on it for the next 29 days
