@syster it's an equity investment in New Vector (the for-profit which the original Matrix team set up) - so they'll want their money back in future (e.g. if New Vector went public somehow). But the thesis is that it's possible to ethically and sustainably sell Matrix services without compromising the open source / open network / open standard side - much as Wordpress.com does for Wordpress.org.

@AugierLe42e sessions are removed when you log out. and if you verified your desktop, then it shouldn't nag. the popup should be dismissable too.

@AugierLe42e The reason it's nagging you is to delete the session, if you're no longer using it - otherwise it's a security hazard. Go to settings and delete the session to make the nag go away.

@me activitypub's @user@domain thing postdates Matrix, plus we deliberately chose an ID syntax which can't be confused with email, JIDs, SIP URIs, or ostatus user@domain tuples. It's a different protocol, after all :)
