"A filmmaker making a documentary about a small choir in rural Australia could not afford the licence fees to release the film to the public. To show snippets of songs sung by the choir, totalling less than two minutes of copyrighted music in a 20-minute film, with each snippet only seconds in length, the licence fees came to over $10,000."
So much of the dysfunctions I saw in this World come from that "myth of growth" being so pervasive even in the most thoughtful minds.
When something is working well, gets attention & credit, everyone usually ask themselves how to make it *bigger* and this is when things start to work not so well anymore.. (more inertia, need for communication, more opinions to compose with etc.)
Instead of growth, let's value emulation, inspiration, replication, distribution <3
@_tapsilog It's interesting how different it can be from one country to another. Spain is a good example of people staying with their parents for an astounding amount of time...
Honestly, the amount of stuff i learn on mastodon is ridiculous. I feel like i've been living under a rock all this time. It probably has to do with the fact that a lot of you early adopters seem to be an adventurous bunch and so my feed is unadulterated by the typical FB, IG, and Twitter crowd.
Anyway, as one of you said earlier, "y'all are valid."
@_tapsilog that's a cool tradition. I'd like to see it happen where I live! Not tradition that I know of here in Australia, or in France. When do people usually start working? In Australia, it's common for 16 year-olds to get a little job. In France, people usually start later on.
I'm interested in #cryptocurrencies that try to make things better (rather than just allowing a handful of people to speculate and get richer fast). Can you recommend some of them? I am exploring #Duniter and #Ğ1 but it will take me a while to become part of the community. Having been a #BOINC contributor for ages, I am discovering #Gridcoin. I have heard of #FairCoin and want to learn more. Any other recommendations? Coins made to be used, and to reduce environmental harm / social injustice.
