So I feel like everyone is reallll fed up with the status quo of digital electronics regarding efficiency, simplicity, learnability, (list probably goes on).
@neauoire@elementary you should be happy it doesn’t say the generic “bug fixes and improvements”!!! You ungrateful human. 😅 No I agree with you. All machines in excess of 10 distinct components should be launched into the sun.
What’s the deal with food labelled “vegan-friendly”? Why not just “vegan”? Sounds a bit like “not _actually_ vegan.” Sounds a bit like “I’m not racist, I’ve got a black friend.”
Aaaaand more security concerns with #Zoom. Some encryption with a hard coded passphrase, crash reports potentially sending screen captures to Zoom, and a bunch of outdated libraries with known vulnerabilities:
@meli_melo je l’utilise à moitié en Australie. C’est un terme qui est un peu promu par notre groupe d’allié•e•s QUILTBAG à mon université. J’aime bien pour la facilité de prononciation, mais c’est vrai que c’est plus utile aux anglophones.
A worked example of putting a network visualisation on a map with #RStats and #OpenRefine (i.e. a "flow map" I guess). This is for visualising collaboration between institutions on a sample of journal articles. Still needs refining, but might be useful to some!
@devinprater what are the tools that you love because of excellent accessibility for you? I am particularly interested as, as a technology trainer at a uni, I’d like to really take that aspect into account. (We are supposed to anyway, but it seems it’s often forgotten about when people purchase a licence for or adopt the latest shiny tool.)
@vantablack I believe you mean 90/11 as you only need to multiply the numerator. Which, of course, takes us to the 90:11 psalm of the word of the Lord:
“Who considers the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear of you?”
MNT is restarting development of Spacedeck, a web-based realtime visual collaboration tool originally started by Martin Guether and me in 2011: https://spacedeck.com (now open-source software). The new version is now in early beta. You can ask me for the invite code if interested in beta testing the hosted version.
radicals win when we're the people our communities come to for help
our politics must be the politics of love and care and hard work for our communities not only because that's what we believe but because that's how we win
