Honestly, where do people get this "THE MEDIA is not reporting on the Austin bombings!" stuff?
    - It's the top story on Google News, an aggregator.
    - That shows that CNN, NBC, and CBS (at least) are covering it
    - You can follow links in all of those stories to the prior coverage of the earlier events
    - They interrupted NPR Morning Edition today to do a live update on the latest incident in the FedEx sorting facility.

    I mean, seriously....

@n8 $EMPLOYER has a service center campus there that is very important. Imagine what we're discussing internally that is SBU/FOUO.

@sil wrote a nice piece talking about collecting machine data in Ubuntu: https://kryogenix.org/days/2018/02/20/collecting-user-data-while-protecting-user-privacy/

I have a very simple take from the perspective of previously helping make releases of Xubuntu. Without knowing who the users are yet getting machine date will allow targeting resources to the most common platforms and usage scenarios. We don't know what is "average" for an Ubuntu user in terms of hardware. Greater privacy is nice but developers need to know what they're building for.

That's from somebody really losing it over Fergie slaughtering the National Anthem. It is a drinking song, dang it. How can you screw it up? Make it something it isn't.

@natecull The general idea during a nuclear exchange situation is that medium wave, high frequency, VHF/UHF, etc. will be disrupted. Communication *may* still be possible at low throughput in narrowband emissions with rather high power at longwave (500 kHz to DC current). At the other extreme some non-ionizing microwave emissions with wavelengths outside what the bomb gave off may go through. Satellites to anybody is microwaves while ground-to-ground is longwave.
