(It's also. like. A Lot. You don't need to have read Homestuck to understand any of it, but it's definitely... embedded with the same spirit? Like its origin is the idea of making a full version of an in-universe edit, that we (as readers) are shown the first five pages of, and its primary goal is probably to have FUN, more than any Deep Philosophical Insights (it hits those, but WHILE having fun). So like. But also still.)

@aparrish Okay so DISCLAIMER I'm about to link to/talk about a Homestuck fanfic,

but a large part of "Detective Pony" is meditating/cycling around these sorts of "writing vs. speaking" thoughts -- especially interesting coming (both in its framing as text-modifications to a text-story, and creation as part of the (very textual) work Homestuck, and also its creation on Tumblr, in social blogging space) in its context of very much that digital-writing "secondary orality" space.

But also it does a lot of taking both sides of it, switching between seeing itself as a written work and seeing itself as a record of a conversation, and bringing in Plato and it gets kinda ridiculous honestly but also imo pretty insightful.
