Music Monday! This week: Bossa Nova. The bossa nova (lit. "new wave") is a Brazilian style of music that has a fairly recognisable rhythm. To show the three typical layers of the rhythm when playing on a modern drumkit, it adds each layer one at a time.

Music Monday! There's this guy called Bill Laswell, who likes to put musicians from different backgrounds together and see what happens ("Nothing Is True, Everything Is Permitted"). This is one of his collaborations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7ium-W2DS0

The first (percussion) instrument you can see and hear is the Indian Tabla, in this case played by the amazing Zakir Hussain. Then a DJ joins with scratches, a drummer with a full kit, an electric bass (Bill Laswell himself) and a trumpet!

@jjg @kurtm maybe (sadly) they do it because some companies aren't allowed to even buy them unless they're accessible? As in, they don't give a shit and that's why they don't do it in consumer-grade wares, because it's probably more expensive or whatever?
