We received a request to #Tusky in the past week, as Mastodon has now opened API for moderation.
As we don't want to spread ourselves too thin we think it'd be better if someone else on here worked on this, but you'd also receive our full support and help where we can.
Let us know if it's something you'd like to work on, and we'll give you a boost!
My main focus will be answering you questions here, (check out our pinned posts), working on a FAQ, and figure out funding avenues.
I'll also work with the rest of the team @ConnyDuck , @charlag and other contributors, to move the project forward by listening to your feedback and trying to make your #MastoApp experience even better.
Tusky 3.0 has been released on Google Play and Amazon, @fdroidorg should follow soon. New features include a black AMOLED theme and the possibility to edit account fields. Read the full releasenotes here: https://github.com/tuskyapp/Tusky/releases/tag/v3.0
One of the most frequent questions we get is: Why doesn't Tusky support push notifications?
Because pushing to devices would require us to use proprietary Google libraries and to run a relay server. But we want Tusky to be pure FOSS (free and open-source software) and don't want to send any data to Google so we decided not to implement push notifications at this time. We are researching other possibilities to make notifications faster though. https://github.com/tuskyapp/Tusky/issues/793
#Tusky 2.3 is now available for everyone on Google Play & Amazon Appstore! Fdroid is having problems building it, will take some time. 2.3 fixes some bugs and improves translations. Changelog -> https://github.com/tuskyapp/Tusky/releases/tag/v2.3
Because we keep getting asked when a new Tusky version will be available on @fdroidorg: Fdroid works differently than Amazon Appstore or Google Play. We as the developers do not upload anything, Fdroid builds the app from source once we tag a release in our code repository. This is super awesome because you are guaranteed to get the exact code from our repo, but also takes some time on their side.
There is currently an issue where #Tusky repeatedly crashes on startup that affects a few users. It can be resolved by clearing Tuskys data. Sorry for the inconvenience ????
#Tusky 1.6.0 has been released and is available to all beta testers on Google Play as of now! Full rollout coming in the next days assuming beta testers do not find any major bugs. Read the changelog: https://github.com/tuskyapp/Tusky/releases/tag/v1.6.0
