    My first real backup device was a 250MB so called streamer: a tape drive. It replaced my 5.25" exchangeable HDD drive, that I build in internally instead. I had approximately 20 tapes with backups and the worst thing of backups was, they backed up viruses as well 😂 What did you use for your backups?

    Mir ist eine in Deutschland gekaufte hochwertige Pipe mal in der Tasche geschmolzen, ohne Fremdeinwirkung oder Fehlnutzung. Elektronik war kaputt. Das war schon gefährlich und da habe ich nun vor Importen um so mehr Angst.

    People's reactions to Gab joining the Fediverse has done, and will continue to do, far more damage to the communities here than Gab itself.

    For example, many instances are blocking https://mstdn.io because they refuse to block Gab, separating people from their possible and actual friends on the network. This is harmful.

    Defederating based off of who other instances federate with will harm adoption. When a user can't follow their friends on most nodes, they'll lose interest quickly.

    I agree. The most critical point for me is, that some people or groups feel free to force their opinions to the whole Fediverse. They have a problem with some users on instance x and therefore they want the whole instance blocked by every other instance. If you don't block, they consider the instance as supporter and block it as well. Same for app developer.
