Here's a problem unique to the modern world. You discover your long-ago ex (more than 10 years) is now a successful podcast host. Do you hit the subscribe button or not?
I know I'm not the first person to have this idea, but suppose Jessica Fletcher committed all the murders on the entire show, and the series is the story of the world's cleverest serial killer. I mean, what human being innocently encounters murder wherever she goes, one a week for 7 years?
Looked up the profile of a guy I used to like, before I met my husband more than 10 years ago. He now weighs 376 pounds, posted recently about a severe drug episode where he wound up OD'd in a McDonald's bathroom, and how he was going to kill his mother with a hammer because she kidnapped his cat. Wow. I don't even know what to say.
@Juju I rarely have violent dreams. Most of my nightmares are more passive danger: social or legal consequences, family members dying, financial disaster. I will say physically violent nightmares have been increasing in the last few years, though. 😕
The epic end-of-the-world battle is on. Place your bets, Team Adorably Cute Puppies vs. Team Long-haired Shirtless Men. I don't know which faction will win, but it's a searing scorched earth holocaust of cuteness.
Largely by accident, the accounts I follow on Instagram seem to fall into 2 categories. 1, long haired men, most of whom speak Spanish or Portuguese, and who take their shirts off a lot. 2, cute dogs.
RT @ExtinctionR We stand together. Whether it’s teargas in Brussels or Paris, injuries from excessive force in Prague, police discrimination in London or undemocraticnew laws in Australia, our answer is always the same: compassionate, powerful nonviolence. #RebelForLifehttps://rebellion.earth/2019/10/14/rebel-daily-6/
@compostablespork I've had an unusual journey, I'm a former atheist who is now religious (Jewish). I have a complex relationship with God and with faith.
@compostablespork Like Scientologists, or climate change deniers. No, you can't dissuade them from their delusions. Author Lawrence Wright called it "the prison of belief."
@winniehell@lafnlab No, because it's not about groups or events. This is the point. The way you train yourself to sit down and write is to sit down and write. It's not about blog badges or social media. Writing is a solitary activity. It takes motivation as well as discipline. That can't be imposed externally. This is why the very concept of NaNo misunderstands the craft it's trying to celebrate. It's just conceptually flawed.
