Wow. I closed a loop tonight with a #history professor I encountered 27 years ago, in 1992, and our paths just crossed again recently (in the last 2 months). I will tell the detailed story to anyone who is interested enough to email me at sean@seanmunger.com. This episode illustrates how amazing life is, and how seemingly random people you encounter can come back to be important even decades later.

@lafnlab I disagree mightily because I think your take illustrates precisely what's wrong with #NaNoWriMo. Word count is the only thing that matters. A novel doesn't come from someone's fingers, it comes out of their heart. A monkey pounding on a typewriter can win NaNo if it sits at the keyboard long enough. That seems totally the wrong approach to me.

It's that time of year again....the time I am taken out to the yard and shot for my heretical opinion that budding writers should NOT engage in the fulsome and empty social media ritual known as #NaNoWriMo. So go ahead, punish me for my unconscionable blasphemy, but do think about what it really means to write a novel (and what it doesn't mean).

One good thing about having houseguests coming soon, is it forces you to clean your bathroom.

If Brexiters had a detailed plan for Brexit, I’d respect that. But all they have is empty rhetoric and projection psychology that blames Remainers and the EU for their own failings. After 3 years, they still can’t define what they want. “Leave means Leave” is not a detailed plan. -

The rage at Greta Thunberg exposes starkly just how little that deniers and opponents of climate action have to offer. There's no counter-narrative other than "No!" and not even an attempt to interest people in any particular program or belief. It's just bankrupt of substance.

#Exxon Knew about #ClimateChange almost 40 years ago
(Article from 2015)A new investigation shows the oil company #understood the #science before it became a public issue and spent millions to #promote #misinformation.
This knowledge did not prevent the company (now #ExxonMobil and the world’s largest #oil and #gas company) from spending decades refusing to publicly acknowledge #climate #change and even promoting climate misinformation.https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/exxon-knew-about-climate-change-almost-40-years-ago/

Today I took several concrete actions to fight climate change. The people I'm working with are making a difference. And I'm not talking about recycling bins or marching in protests, although those are important things to do. I feel so good about the work I've been doing lately. The people I'm encountering are working their asses off. Happy to be working with them.

I honestly don’t understand why adults would choose to spend their time mocking and threatening teenagers and children for promoting science, when they could do something good instead. I guess they must simply feel so threatened by us. -> -

Came across a knot of comments on my Facebook this morning from US and Euro libertarians complaining about Greta Thunberg. Not vicious attacks, but mild laments that she "doesn't understand how the world works." Methinks these folks don't understand how climate change works. They're in for a pretty rude awakening.
