@ludman1 #Matrix hat voice und video chat. Das wären die Gründe dafür. Dagegen spricht für mich, dass sie #e2ee noch immer nur optional anbieten (moderne #XMPP clients machen #OMEMO by default). Außerdem verwendet #riot #electronJS. Und mit #riot kann ich nicht mehrere Accounts/Identitäten verwenden.
Allgemein würde ich behaupten #XMPP ist in der Praxis dezentralisierter und tiefer in der Community verwurzelt.

@morre It depends on how you measure utility. My Laptop "worked" for less than an hour. From my point of view that's worth it for creating an account. Globally we safe energy because the network doesn't have to process (that much) spam.
But yes - PoW means forcing someone to waste something. That's the idea of it. I prefer this over the manual PoW that is reCAPTCHA.

#ProofOfWork seems like a sensible alternative to #Google #reCAPTCHA to avoid misuse and spam and still enable #anonymous usage.
