The bad habit of clicking through CWs since people always used it for jokes?
Yeah... Well that was just taken to a whole other level since #switter joined the party.

Hi mastodon community at large, Iโve been hearing that some folks are worried that SESTA suddenly makes it legally fraught to run a mastodon instance as an American.
Has anyone done a comprehensive analysis of this? Whatโs real and whatโs not?
Qubes 4.0 is officially released
It seems that the 'Hide everything from _domain_' does not work if you already follow them, so their updates are in your timeline.
Very interesting and a bit surprising. I guess, it's an example of user expectation of a feature vs reality.
Or at the very least, let my new account follow you again, because ya know, you're all my peeps now.
I love it, i've been chilling on mastodon for a few months, start up a new instance, and suddenly i get a whole buncha followers right before i make the move :D
I hope you all follow me when i do the deed

Hi all,
Eleven is a music player for Android that is available via F-Droid. The maintainer of the repo for the F-Droid version is looking for someone to claim it.
The player is a no-frills local music player solution that still has lots of room to grow.
Use this thread to claim it: https://gitlab.com/ymber/Eleven/issues/12#note_63740457

RT @aantonop@twitter.com: The CLOUD Act passed. It destroys privacy globally, so it had to be snuck into the $1.3 trillion omnibus without debate.
Encrypt. Encrypt. Encrypt. Go Dark.
When privacy is criminalized, only criminals have privacy. We got sold out, again.
I also prefix the conversation "If you ever need to send me something confidential, like say we're exchanging a pin number for the garage door. Use this chat i just started with you. *initiate chat, enable encryption* send me a hello. Lets make sure you can always know its me by verifying these numbers."
now if you ever do a new device/login, you're going to have a whole new set of fun with the end user thats less technical. but its a start :)
@kemonine @zigg The way i've mitigated this is as i fold new users in, we do the key party over a turn call first thing.
You then outline the lock. Its a solution by process not by technical/ux. So i agree, its ๐ฉ but it has been an extremely helpful thing.

More people in the FOSS community need to look at AI and deep learning. If we're not involved, AI will be proprietary.
Did you know that you can opt out of search indexing via your account settings?
It's a really nice value-add if you'd prefer your toots don't get indexed by search engines.
Oh hey! Social.coop is #under1000. Want a voice in running your own social media? Curious about #platformcoop stuff? Give our quiet, dorky, cooperatively-run instance a try: https://social.coop/about/more

@linux There were some brutal truths uttered in this podcast. I wish you all the best in it being received as well as i took it but there are some die hards out there i know.
Not the RMS we wanted, but probably the RMS we deserved.
