Mouse Ear Hawkweed - Hieracium pilocela

Basal rosette of oval leaves with singular flower stalks which are thinner than the similar-looking dandelion flower head. The rosette of basal leaves is like the common dandelion, but the leaf margins are not irregularly jagged.

One of several introduced hawkweeds.

Lesser Hop Clover - Trifolium dubium

Clover-like small yellow flower clusters with 3 leaflets with the plant stems spreading close to the ground (prostrate).

Found in a broad crack of dirt at the top of a parking lot wall between the lot's two levels.

Not native to New England

Multiflora Rose - Rosa multiflora
from our back yard.

This shrubby rose is a native of China, but has been spread widely in the US where it is frequently considered a noxious weed.

(Is a noxious weed worse than a regular weed?)

I personally like this plant, though I admit to trying not to trim it back because the thorns stab into my hands and arms every time I try to control its growth.

Another invasive plant introduced to the US from Eurasia. These yellow-flowered plants are common along forest edges (and my backyard). The stems have a staining yellow or orange sap.

I guess there is a potential that the Harry Potter series will become a "classic" with new fans and fans who continue to recommend it to new people while they go back to it again and again.
