A capella versions of old chiptunes. Really really well performed. I'm delighted. -

I hope Microsoft buys GitHub, so that more people can consider GitHub a problem and put effort into the alternatives.

The frequency illusion, that you learn of a word or concept and suddenly it seems to be everywhere and it wasn't before you learned about it, is apparently also known as the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon.
https://www.damninteresting.com/the-baader-meinhof-phenomenon/
Until now, I was very familiar with the experience, but didn't know of either term for it. I expect to see it mentioned more in the future.
Also, I struggle to think of a time when I didn't know about the Baader-Meinhof Gang! Or Rote Armee Fraktion, as they referred to themselves. Or rather, I struggle to think of a distinct point where I learned about them. Some time between the 80s when I knew nothing and my late teens when I knew everything. ;-)In conversation from pleroma.soykaf.com permalink Attachments

@kaniini @viomi @pea @nightpool From what I've read, Matrix is implementation-defined and the spec is an afterthought and not being maintained. That Rust wossname implementation was put on hold until an updated spec would be at hand, but I haven't heard that that has happened. In conversation from pleroma.soykaf.com permalink -

For a moment I thought our two lobby guards were involved in some heavy banter, but the slow part of my language brain woke up and I realized I wasn't paying attention to tone.
"You silly pig" and "it's locked" is just a difference in tone: so4jyu1 (傻猪) vs so2jyu6 (鎖??).

Makes me think of that time when the Holy Roman Empire[0] conquered Rome.
How is the caret in "^Lift" pronounced?

Incorrect. I used PayPal to buy a thing from an acquaintance, and realized that it would have been cheaper and more convenient had I used BitCoin. Less than half a year later, I got my first coins.

This logarithmic overview of distances in our solar system and cosmic neighborhood is very helpful, I think. One light year is a bit over 60000 AU.
