    I guess the game really show that it isn't bioware that made it.

    It's was a spin-off studio that ea created and gave the same name but the real studio had nothing to do with it.

    Andromeda is more a poor copy of Mass Effect than a real Bioware game.

    FCC should really be punish for all that fuckery of stealing people identity.

    They're stupid enough to use Barack Obama's name in one of the comment:

    https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filing/1051157755251

    I don't know if this is supposed to be "funny" or an involuntary Easter egg.

    In any case, this appalling.

    Wouldn’t it be funny if through destroying net neutrality, big ISP’s drove demand for mesh networks and distributed systems, effectively digging their own graves? 🤔

    @tek @kaniini I wholefuly agree.

    Fair competition with small ISP and funding to have more of them.

    Also remove those ruling making them illegal in some states.

    @Balor @tek

    Three major things are needed:

    * intentional degradation needs to be illegal (in central office or at edge)

    * increased investment in ISP competition (fibre installed in areas where big cable dominates because the alternative is ADSL2)

    * funding for small/cooperative ISPs which are really at the forefront of residential fibre to the premises networks (the local phone cooperative had gigabit fibre to the home for $70/month well before even google fibre. cooperatives work.)

    I have no opinion about metering, increasing competition will shut that shit down, because all it takes is one ISP offering unmetered.

    A rough year ahead ...

    Better call those senators ... or even pay them since that's the only thing that seems to be working.

    We should start a crowdfunding campaign to buy the senators.

    @tek @Balor

    Yes, that's the next step.

    First you degrade at the edge. Then you degrade at the central office.

    Right now, Comcast squeezes content providers by taking TATA Communications as their only transit provider; this basically means your traffic is going halfway to India and back to reach providers that Comcast won't peer with or sell transit to.

    It should be remembered that the Netflix-Comcast transit deal was arranged explicitly because Comcast wanted to avoid real regulations.

    I called my senators and asked them to overturn today's disastrous ruling by the FCC https://www.battleforthenet.com/

    You should too! The fediverse is a place full of folks who are well informed about how critical net neutrality is to the internet as a democratic institution, as it was designed to exist. Make your voice heard!

    Well, they will sell package soon enough since that how they did with TV Channels.

    They know the customer is "used" to that kind of "fair pricing".

    I see more likely packages for Netflix and other streaming systems not own by the ISP as a way they cash on it.

    Also depending of the size of the company, blackmailing them if they want access to the ISP users.

    Tech speaking, it would be possible just by playing with DNS as a PoC.

    @tek From the email of battle for the net:

    But we’re not done fighting—not even close.

    The fight now moves to Congress, which has 60 legislative days to overturn the FCC’s decision once the order takes effect. We’re launching an all-out campaign to convince a majority in the House and Senate to vote to overrule this outrageous giveaway to Comcast and Verizon.

    I can't do anything like this as a European citizen ... all I can do is raise awareness.

    If you're using a mac please read this:

    https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=15800676

    You have a 0day root vulnerability. Anybody that has access to your mac can create a root user with an empty password.

    For now, all you can do is create yourself the root user with a secure password.

    Please support the artists around you.
    It doesn't have to be a lot. It can just be a little compliment. If you like what they do, then _say it_. Don't ignore them.
    Artists live to make art, but art is to be shown to others. Way too often, artists get discouraged because they don't get any attention for their work, even though they spent hours on it, even though they poured all their heart into it.
    Artists are important. Never let any of them feel worthless because of a lack of recognition.
