it appears that the issues i've been having with git-ssb are related to the way blobs are replicated. there are performance issues with node-sbot, but the real problem is that blobs are only fetched on access, and if i am offline when a particular blob is fetched the clone will fail. in practice, this isn't an issue for very active teams that are constantly fetching each other's blobs as they work on the project. however, you *will* lose track of blobs if your velocity is too low.

i've had periodic minor network issues with this machine since i started renting it, but this is just too much. once the data is copied i'm wiping the drives and terminating my service agreement.

@deadsuperhero i have a hard time believing that consciousness is non-deterministic. a non-linear dynamic system could more than explain all of the variations in human behavior and allow for creativity and individuality without resorting to non-determinism. which is kind of sobering because that means free will is more or less an illusion. at best you might say that consciousness is probabilistic if it requires some kind of quantum phenomena, but that's still only an approximation of free will.

the only "problem" with mind uploading is that you never actually leave your original system

a copy of you will begin to exist, but there wont be any sense of continuity (unless you simulate it with suicide)
