gnu/social seems to hold mastodon in low esteem because of their *perceived* lack of values. clearly their focus on growth means they don't give a fuck about the freedom software values that make gnu/social the superior social network. you know, except the part where #mastodon is licensed AGPL. they only thing they *don't* do is use software freedom as a marketing tool.

the issue is having control over your technology. if you don't have the source and the ability to modify the shit, you don't have control. implying that the software vendor has the control.

i have a right to self determination, and in the modern world that means controlling the technology that i require to operate as a member of society. by withholding source code you are limiting my freedom to control my own life.
