I need to fix something in my #emacspeak instance, as the pitch changes don't seem to work as they should. I do, however, get the little "earcons". I hope the pitch thing can be done without installing a non-free voice. I'll do my best not to make my talk an ad for anything, hard as that may be. Some of my tutorials are ads for !trisquel this was bad, as I said, in the first one, "these are distro-neutral". *smiling*

Maybe I'll write some html with some out-of-sequence headers and see what the current generation of the orca screen reader and firefox ESR do with it; should still be running #debian testing in a year:) How considerate of Steve to slow his #emacspeak for you guys; thanks for reminder to do that in my demos.

I remember that #a11y presentation in the 2017 #libreplanet and thought, at the time, it was missing demonstration of how the guy actually does things. I've done some demos and made some live tutorial recordings re: using a #GNU #Linux system with the accessibility tools, and think this could be a promising thing for an LP conference session. I wonder if I can show some exercises that go well, and contrast with some that do not, and discuss how to close this gap?

    Yep; you got me!
First thing, I'd want to make sure the talk hasn't been given recently. On getting overloaded with introductions: I find it happens more easily as I age:)

At times and places where/wen I'm feeling triggered or microagressed (that's probably not a word), I can't stand talking about how I use the computer and accessibility, but, A #libreplanet conference is not one of those occasions, so, I'd better fire up org mode, and get started on the outline; Hahahaha. Yep; I've been to several LP conferences and, perhaps, to your talk on #GNU #Guix? I know your name and voice; perhaps we've shaken hands and exchanged pleasantries? Next LP is a year away; I hope you and I can chat sooner.

Bar hopping around on my last evening in the Boston area. The salsa at this bar is way better than I expected.

The #LibrePlanet tech team is working to get videos from the weekend's conference up on the #MediaGoblin instance

It will take an indefinite amount of time. They are also trying to get the videos for the presenter and the slides combined

The live streams were great, waiting patiently for the completed videos

I just saw something on the #libreplanet list about a lunch, scheduled for Sunday, the 31st, for discussion of #freesoftware activism, at Democracy Brewing; haven't yet decided whether I'll go. I've not been there before, but recognize the address, and can easily find it.

As an errata of sorts to my #LibrePlanet2019 talk---I think I said "GNU/Linux running on the proprietary Windows kernel", when Linux isn't involved---it's GNU/kWindows. Microsoft wrote a compatibility layer that translates Linux syscalls, so programs compiled _for_ GNU/Linux run atop of the Windows kernel. See https://mikegerwitz.com/2016/04/gnu-kwindows for more information.

I also forgot to mention for the 2FA password manager example that storing long-term secrets using asymmetric ciphers isn't a good idea; you should use symmetric keys for that. Fortunately, pass{words, phrases} (as I demonstrated in the talk) aren't long-term secrets---they're easily changed. But you can easily do _both_ asymmetric for 2FA with a smartcard and symmetric by adding another GPG invocation to the pipeline.

More to come (including repository of the source code for the slides, as well as notes) within the next day or so. Slides are at https://mikegerwitz.com/talks/cs4m.pdf. Thanks to all those who attended and watched online. Feedback/criticism welcome. I simplified my talk a lot in case the audience wasn't technical but I also didn't want to simplify it too much in case the audience was full of hackers. The intent was to just provide some exposure to the concepts for further research by attendees.
