    There have been refreshable braille evices for a long time, but they display only dots. What @bthall asked about is a refreshable tactile display that can render any shape. I think there is one such device, not yet ready for prime-time.

    I offer support to friends considering and/or using #FreeSoftware and open culture. #IDAD is next week. I recently preached to a strange in a cafe; he saw me typing into a laptop with the screen turned off, and asked what I was doing. So, I told him of my distro, the #GNU the #Linux kernel, and things. At one point, he said "But, linux is hard to use", to which I anssered "Do you have an Android phone"? Oh.... Had we more time, I'd have turned the screen on and shown him the programs I carry 'round with me.

    A new pre-release version of the #GNU #Linux distribution called Accessible Coconut is available. This one is based on !ubuntu 18.04.2 and features the !mate desktop as default. !gnome is retained, and Orca is updated to a pre-release of version 3.29.     Life hack: If you're afraid of #unions/#communism, there is a super simple solution: treat your workers well. The trick is that it has to be *all* your #workers. The ones you directly employs and the ones you indirectly employ through suppliers/contractors, especially foreign.

    If I had heard of this tee-shirt, before I knew anything about federated networking spaces, I'd have asked something about extinct elephants, maybe thought wearer was a paleontoligist or worked in a natural history museum. :)

    @PinballWitch When I wear my Mastodon t-shirt around town, people often ask me if it is from the band: Mastodon. When I say, no, it's from a federated networking space, they shake their head and say some version of: I thought the shirt was way too cute for Mastodon (the band).
