    Sometime before 1973, one of my brothers checked out an LP record from the library. For two weeks, we played that thing almost continuously.

    The main attraction was this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtHLAne-DKc but I soon grew to like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55MpYdenrh4 even better.

    I'm not sure that I've heard either song since then until last night, except playing in my head.

    Also, I am currently still in the Coursera Cybersecurity program. I missed some time and when I returned, I didn’t remember anything, so I’m going to go back and redo prior courses and hopefully continue long enough for the content to “stick”.

    So I started #DataCamp with an intro course. After I finish, I’ll go on to the intermediate courses in the series. So far, it seems too simplistic. And too gamified. You get ’daily XP’ each day when you do your coursework. If you don’t need or want ’XP points’ you just have to ignore them.

    But I must remember that I am not there to focus on how much I dislike XP points. I am there preparing for “job.next()”.

    If you redirect me to your #chatbot which has limited options (which do not include the one I want), you should not expect me to continue doing business with you. This message brought to you because instead of "send a message to support" I got a chatbot that wanted to spew platitudes at me and then end the communication.

    Seeing just one side of a conversation with "Baptist Joshua on YouTube". From being in such a conversation with BJ once, I don't think he's had enough exposure to people outside his groups (ethnic, religious, political), so he says some pretty harsh things about outsiders.

    I think he needs interaction with people who are outsiders, but not in a debate format. I'd say more of a "coming alongside to help" format, where he learns that members of $OUTSIDE_GROUP are just people like those inside his groups.

    The Verge article extolling the #Fediverse. I personally think the writer has the wrong point. #Facebook isn't good. Its attraction is "everybody I know is on Facebook" and not any of its half-baked features. Therefore, multiprotocol / multi-network federated social is important to dethroning #corpocentric #socnets like XTwitter ( #x.com / #twitter ) and Meta's Facebook & #Instagram.

    We need bridges to connect #Nostr, the #OStatus and #ActivityPub fediverses, #Diaspora, #Farcaster, #Bluesky's #ATProto, etc. Or we need instances that speak all of the above protocols / languages.

    I feel this writer's exuberence will turn out to be fantasy, mostly because of misunderstanding what keeps people in the walled gardens and what it will take to free them.

    Last week (Wednesday the 13th) there was a meteor shower. I saw one article that expected up to 100 per hour. I didn’t get to watch. My grandsons #GS3 #GS4 #GS5 were going to visit their other grandparents the next morning, so they were asleep 😴.

    Maybe we’ll see it next year.

    @simsa03 That is something that I wish more US workers could do. In a lot of workplaces, they don’t even have the opportunity to join a union.
