    We should be very concerned about it from US-based corporations, concerned enough to stop their practices around lock-in, data-collection, and proprietary software. But even so, when the data collected is going to a hostile government, it justifiably sparks added concern.

    Today, a woman ran a red light and was about to run me down as I crossed in the crosswalk in accordance with the traffic lights (including the walk sign) when she suddenly saw me and stopped. At that speed, there would have been some damage.

    I mentioned it in today's call with #sonTwo. Says he: "Right now, there's no money, so we would not have been able to fly out for either a hospital visit or a funeral."

    I don't remember much about #1983, except that many people I knew (myself included) thought that Jimmy Carter hadn't prioritized a strong military in an environment where the "red menace" could attack at any minute. It felt like the US was playing catch-up, and that allies in Europe was not willing to shoulder their share of the burden of defending against invasion.

    I guess I would have been considered a "hawk", but at the same time, I was strongly against war unless an enemy brought it to us. I remember when the US military invaded Grenada and overthrew its government. I was not pleased with what I felt was an unnecessary war. Some years later, when US military went to Honduras I was sure they'd end up crossing into Nicaragua and doing the same thing.

    I need to learn to speak in multiple character voices. There are only a few in Jasper Rabbit's creepy tales (Creepy Carrots, Creep Pair of Underwear, Creepy Crayon), but other books have multi-character dialog.

    Elephant and Piggy books seem to be my main failing. How did I voice this character in the other book I read ten minutes ago, and how can I make the new character sound different?

    #Tenacity has its first stable release. Tenacity 1.3 (and 1.3.1) can be obtained at https://codeberg.org/tenacityteam/tenacity/releases [codeberg org]

    Tenacity is a fork of #Audacity, created after Audacity was taken over by MUSE and opt-out telemetry / tracking was added. MUSE / Audacity has since changed it to be opt-in, and behind a compile time flag, but damaged trust is difficult to overcome.

    I currently use OcenAudio, but certain things I easily did in Audacity aren't so easy now.

    Hopefully, Tenacity will soon be in Debian / Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSuse, and Chocolatey repositories.

    Today's temperature was slightly lower across !SoCal. Trio didn't grumble about how hot it is in Palm Springs today, and it is not awful.

    The house stayed warm, however. I think the indoor minimum was about 88⁰F / 31⁰C.
