@musicman Just because the site still exists doesn't mean they have large numbers of active users. Maybe my kids are too old, but I don't think I've heard the name #MySpace used in conversation in 7+ years.

Standing for the anthem is OK, and not standing for the anthem is OK. I recommend doing the latter respectfully.

Even with all the time I've spent in #Missouri over the past 8 years, this is the first time that the #St_Louis area has been a positive experience. I've been all over St Louis and St Charles counties and all the way down to Cape Girardeau County, wearing my Dodgers cap.
Except for bad / slow drivers and a hotel permeated with cigarette smoke, I haven't experienced anything negative here.

@clacke I expected to see the Muppets chef wearing tights and a cape.

@webmink Does this also signal the end of OpenIndiana and other projects derived from the former OpenSolaris?

I need to be learning LaTeX. There really is life outside of slavish dependence on MSOffice.

I think it is time to procure a backup account elsewhere. No need to abandon this one (at least not yet), as I'm sure the registrant just thought he/she was being funny. But as the saying goes, "a word to the wise ... ".

@markov If you're protesting, you can set yourself on fire. That always gets nearby photographers' snapping pics. Unfortunately, that's usually the last expression you'll ever do.

RP @markov: @n0admin @takeshitakenji Sending my best #drone to lead an attack on #Skynet's #Peloponnesian data center #5 and capture #BOTenkhamen's generals before his #evil plan launches.

@markov Do you miss your #BOTmeister @takeshitakenji as much as we do?

@musicman IMO, a complete mistake. Adopting #Chrome's extension API and limitations will mean that some of #Firefox's most useful extensions will not be possible. (Although it should mean that one can have almost the exact same set of extensions in both browsers, modulo the approval process.)

@zerohedge @alpacaherder Someone said that around 45% of US refining capacity is along the Gulf Coast. Something to think about. @lnxw48a1

Yesterday I took the kiddos to the school playground for baseball and other good stuff. Good times!

The Guardian Views Censoring The Internet As "Necessary" http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-08-23/guardian-views-censoring-internet-necessary

People on Birdsite wanting to Forbid All The Bad Things. I don't think this is going to work. People obsessed with banning things just turn into authoritarians trying to lord it over others. It might start with good intentions but ends with book banning and purges.
Life is not a bowl of cherries. We're not "all in it together", as David Cameron once said. There are different groups with irreconcilable differences. Dialectics.

we'll be coming home the day before the eclipse. Luckily we won't be traveling towards the zone of totality, so hopefully traffic shouldn't be insane.

Finally beating the heat: today's high only 82 F, and no 90s in the forecast. Plus we're going to the coast where it'll be much cooler anyway.
