    Just had a call from a slightly distraught non-techy friend of a friend. They were burgled and her laptop was stolen. All their family photos gone. No backups. :(. If you're a tech, teach your friends and family. Help them understand the need for backups, please! <3

    Anybody tried this Secure Scuttlebutt thing yet? How is it compared than other decentralized P2P projects like ZeroNet or RetroShare?

    Classic Email PGP is in a sad state indeed, but I still think there's plenty of use for it in this new #autocrypt thing that #DeltaChat is pushing forward as their encryption mechanism.

    Apparently, it makes the encryption transparent, and as easy to use as Signal's, while still maintaining the email-based infrastructure, and the OpenPGP standard. Haven't tried it enough yet to have a say, though.

    Sorry to say, but I think you're out of luck, just like me. Developers seem to be more focused on the backend these days, and the web interface seems to attract enough people so that there's too little motivation to work on a good, lightweight, browserless client.

    #IdentiCurse worked really well for 140c instances, torified well and frankly was quite the best one I've ever found. However, for some reason it doesn't work with more than 140c, like this one. You could torify it by just running `torsocks identicurse`

    I tried Choqok way back when and it seemed to be alright, but eventually my dislike of KDE and GUIs in general made me chuck it over. I haven't touched it since then, though.

    I didn't have one single tutorial, nope, but more like an amalgamation of instructions from one site, ideas from other blogs and more stuff I've been adding to my .muttrc as I look to add more features that I discover.

    I haven't had any issues when sending email in particular, and don't know exactly what msmtp is (is it Microsoft's Hotmail?), but I know that Exchange in particular used to cause some trouble to mutt.

    Regardless, I posted a sample version derived from my own muttrc (minus email addresses) that you perhaps can compare and adapt from here: https://paste.debian.net/1025948/

    I do remember bookmarking way back when something that I called "The Mutt Bible" but sadly I think it was left in one of my old computers, which I can't find right now. Interestingly, this inspires me to avoid similar problems in the future by backing up my bookmark files. I think I searched along the lines of "mutt multiple email accounts" or something, which gave me instructions on how to set account hooks.

    Aye, but it's a harder road than I thought. Closest thing that I got so far was a bash script wrapper against the qataki client, but it feels like a big hack

    "Discovering" old forgotten clothes buried deep down the wardrobe and cleaning them up to wear as new is 10x more satisfying than buying new, not to mention the financial benefits.
