@maiyannah @paulfree14 Slacktivism has its place, but Anonymous shows its limitations. Creating and propagating memes which criticize the status quo and lampoon the foolishness of the powerful is worthwhile, but not sufficient to bring about material changes in the things which matter.
Where Anonymous got it right I think is just in anonymity as a tactic. It's hard to disrupt a movement if it doesn't have any obvious leader or if the leader is a fictional character (eg. Ned Ludd). I think that if Wikileaks had avoided having any conspicuous spokesperson, or adopted an attractive-looking computer generated news reader as one, then they probably would have been more successful.
