@celesteh I think I get what you're saying. When I last used the fediverse the software didn't yet support blocking or reporting people, and I had no sense of how well moderated it was.

At the same time, I'm uncomfortable with the idea of callouts always being considered taboo. In the same way that not talking about salaries makes it easier for pay discrimination to flourish, not talking about harrassment makes it easier for trolls to flourish.

@celesteh @sireebob if you read resist_berlin's toots it is obvious that they are not well-intentioned. They choose to reply to me (entirely off-topic) with the sole intention of trolling me about WikiLeaks. Another WL troll immediately piled on afterwards citing a conspiracy theory.

I blocked them both.

It's victim-blamy to call someone out for calling out a troll, btw.

@sireebob You're basically saying if someone starts trolling you on Mastodon, the appropriate behavior is to quietly accept it. Your argument is not very convincing, sorry

(And Seth Rich was not wikileaks' source. This is a conspiracy theory started by Assange that immediately falls apart under scrutiny. It's misinformation.)

@resist_berlin remember when Wikileaks encouraged its supporters to troll that BBC journalist? Or, after calling the AP journalist a "rat" for being jewish, told people to "Bog him down. Get him to show statements of his bias"?

It's pretty disturbing. It proves they wanted GOP to win the election, but worse it's full of blatant misogyny, attacks against feminists, rape apology, organized troll campaigns, and even hints of antisemitism.
