Goodnight friends, & happy solstice! Around 1/2 past 3 the longest night of the year made itself felt. Clouds turned indigo or bruisy black-violet, & a lonely kind of nighttime chill bloomed from the wet ground. As I watched the cold pale blue sunset shrank, swallowed up by the axle of the year.
I had another low-key, low energy day, heartened by consciously taking time to realign myself towards celebration–reviewing my year in art-making.
May we see ourselves & each other w/love first today.

Goodnight friends! One of my fav. eerie quotidian sights is a lamppost lit in the day, casting that particular orange glow on an overcast afternoon rather than glittering on the tiny facets of night-time tarmac. Of course it has to turn on sometime, but it still contains a hint–a potential–of time out of joint.
There's a few vague senses of gloom & dread settling on me I think–seasonal weights & pressures of family obligation &c.
May we be refreshed by our rest today, & rewarded by our action.

Sorry, can't let this go.
I was asked to draw a story about a Muslim contemplating a terrorist act which I turned down. It was fresh in the time of the Quebec mosque attack so I proposed to make the story about domestic terrorism.
The writer (who is white, BTW) disagreed & has since blacklisted me from his "clique" of collaborators. I've noticed a few of them have since stopped talking to me & have pushed me aside. I know I shouldn't care but it was opportunities to make comics.
