Goodnight friends! A frail-feeling indoors day today, legs a bit jelly-like & general lethargy, a mild but persistent jittery pain still kerping me up @ 3am–none of it unexpected given 2 consecutive days of mild walking adventures & I suspect better than I would have experienced a year ago!
The weather felt as unsettled as my body did, cold w/a sweeping piebald sky, but the evening at least was poetic, clouds like the flash of fishscale in dark water.
May we give ourselves time to rest today!

Goodnight friends! More rain today, but desultory–only in uncertain spurts as cloud cover flitted over. The air still prickled wet on my face, & by night the sky was solid & sullen again.
I'm hanging still for now in a cycle of sleeplessness & foggy awakenings–my body lethargic & painful in a way that means I never feel fully awake. Letting myself be as slow as I need is the challenge.
May we find joy in our small successes today, & recognise them as steps towards a future full of hope & love!

@CountLoliDee if I rememb right, the way I've done it in the past is tracing my image in reverse from a sketch onto the back of the final surface, since watercolour paper is often so thick that laying another sheet underneath for lightboxing may not be practical. Also the lightbox will mess with your colour sense a bit–getting your palette down rock solid beforehand in a colour study, or brushing in the crucial shapes on the lightbox then winging the rest are my best suggestions. @CountLoliDee watercolour reveals alllll sins! probably the only way to avoid it completely is lightboxing or similar. To minimise show-through I sometimes roll a kneaded eraser over the whole thing until I'm left w/the ghostliest lines I can still see, but I think an equally effective way forward is to accept those marks & make them part of your plan. Letting them submerge within your colours–e.g Sargent–or even leaning into it by using colour pencils can look great–e.g http://jamesgurney.com/site/images/pencil-and-watercolor
