    I'm a little demoralised right now. I might need to rethink my approach. Maybe tomorrow I'll regroup and try again.

    I hope I see this through until it gets to be actually useful! My hope is to write the definitive cross-platform tile editor. I've seen other projects do Windows and macOS builds of #PyQt software, so I should be able to do it too!

    Doing my little part to push #NESdev off Windows. It's so weird to me to see an entire homebrew software culture on Windows!

    I need #Qt help now.

    I've managed to implement changing the palette for all tiles, but it's slow. :-((( This doesn't seem worthy of being called "tilerswift" at the moment.

    Maybe it was the wrong method to begin with. I set up an image, then make that image the pixmap of a bunch of QLabel objects. So I guess doing this for all 16384 tiles of this ROM is th slow part? I'm not sure how else to do it.

    #NESdev progress report:

    OMG I'm so excited, look at me, I'm actually building a #Qt GUI for editing tiles. This is coming along a lot better than I expected! Qt is pretty nice! I now have a grid of tiles and each thing in the grid knows its tile contents.

    I'm calling it tilerswift 'cause that name got stuck in my head and it's a tiler program for tiles and it should be nimble and quick.

    @penduin Oh, yes, that happens in other levels. Too many enemies despawn some others.

    Not just plants, you can despawn other things.

    So, it turns out that every pipe in #SuperMarioBrothers 1 has a piranha plant except for the pipes in 1-1. This is actually hardcoded into the game! If pipe and not 1-1, then piranha plant.

    There's so much to learn in #NESdev.
