Today I learned that Windows Home Edition doesn't come with Bitlocker. Honestly, why would anyone use such a pile of crap? LUKS ist free. And the whole operating system around LUKS is free, too.

Finally! My server and hence Hubzilla on https://grindcore.ch is back online!

@ghostdancer I'm on Fairphone Open OS, no Gapps whatsoever. I also get the same notifications but when I tap it, nothing happens.

@ghostdancer That's interesting. I wonder why mine doesn't. I just get this annoying message that it's out of date but it wouldn't let me upgrade any other way than downloading the new version from the website.

Looks like I ran into a FreeBSD upgrade bug from 11.1 to 11.2. This means my server will be offline for another couple of days.... 😢

I'm trying to upgrade Signal but can't find the .apk download on their website anymore...

That's totally cheating! A steam train is supposed to steam, not to be pulled by a electric engine....

Hmm, for some reason my server didn't boot into a console after adding a fiber network card... This means it stays offline for the weekend...

@silkevicious @cat I think now you can, yes. But that still leads to a follow-request to every one of your contacts.

@cat I'm probably just burnt by how many times I had to move from one StatusNet / GNU Social server to another and re-follow everyone. That's also what keeps me from setting up my own Pleroma instance.

You are of course absolutely right: competition in this space is a good thing.

@cat I ran Friendica some time ago but never really liked it. The reason I stick with Hubzilla is the nomadic identity and secondary backup hubs which no other platform yet offers as seamlessly. @silkevicious

@silkevicious @cat I think Hubzilla connects to more other platforms than any other software of the fediverse. But not always as flawlessly as I would like.

@silkevicious To many moving parts and hard to get right these days. All this new-fangled spam fighting technologies like SPF and DKIM make it hard to convince the big players like gmail to accept outgoing mail from your machine.

    xmmp - check.
    nextcloud - check.
    main - never again.
    pleroma - TODO

More extra tasks for you: a matrix chat server and Hubzilla ;)
