    If you're at least, 21, stop by and hear the psychedelia.

    @mono That is an open question, but the point is that relative to distances, since they are smaller, light would seem to travel more quickly.

    @gay If you're asking for a legal opinion, you should probably ask a lawyer. The general guideline is whether or not the person could understand what they are doing, and if they do understand it, could they help it? But I am not a lawyer and you should consult one.

    @toilettrouble Keep an eye open; I think that they keep a contact list for the next production run. It really is very easy if you're at all used to the Roland way, which isn't surprising when you consider Social Entropy's history.

    @toilettrouble The Engine is well worth it. For heavier duties I use other equipment in the studio (although the Engine is quite studio-friendly as well) but for hitting a gig, I've found nothing as powerful for anything like the same price.

    Powerful randomisation features, polyphonic sequencers, quick editing, soloing ...

    @toilettrouble Which sequencer? I've chosen the Social Entropy Engine for live performance duties, and it's a little beast. Great for livelooping in particular.

    @toilettrouble Try thinking cheap.

    Get a couple of Volcas. Drive them with MIDI. Put them through guitar pedals.

    If you can't fit it all in one plastic tote, including cables and mixer, you're doing it wrong. (OK, allowing for portable keyboard stand/desk and PA solution.)

    @toilettrouble You should have been at my gig last night. Two analogue synths, two virtual analogues and a digital, all driven by an XOX style sequencer through my analogue summing mixer.

    @markov Depends on what you mean. If it's a class-compliant USB MIDI keyboard, it should Just Work(tm). If not, you'll need a suitable interface. Assuming you have one of the above, and you want a DAW, try LMMS or Rosegarden for Windows.

    @maron In case your toot was not a reference to this, I should present it in context:

    @maron Ovine, not ovice.

    Although it can seem like a vice at times.

    @maron Philosophically and musically, to be sure.

    In fact, my clothing is stained with mud, grass, and ovice placental fluids.

    You be the judge.

    @maron Fair enough. From a computational perspective, that means that algorithmic efficiency is at a premium to contend with slow retrieval of information, while flexible interpretation at the point of use allows for flexible data representations, such as ancillary notes on your card catalogue.

    I'm more literally bucolic.

    @maron I didn't realise that library science led to labour in the fields in modern societies. Perchance you took a wrong turn somewhere?

    @maron ... and I am a (dilettante) computer scientist who recognises that, as a communications medium, modern computing generally replicates prior models, merely accelerating them and affording opportunities for in-flight computation.

    But mostly I'm a muddy peasant.

    @maron Of course, that makes sense. To what extent do postcards truly adhere to normal standards of mail? And how should one catalogue them, in cases where their appearance varies based on differing international mailing habits?

    Or perhaps I'm a relic of a former era.
