    Like High School Jazz band. Students would get through so many scales / solos / etc... they got through what would be very boring to concert band students. It's because of the way it was approached. Then the drills became a tool to get to the next creative idea or expression.

    I'm frustrated with the Mathematics curriculum for sure though. It's overstandardized everywhere. STEM heavy focus. I want Mathemagics.... *ZAP* And the 13th Z was zapped!

    I am continuing with the university idea though. I hope to enter into the philosophy program next year. I did meet with some professors who were awesome and encouraging.

    I could have easily rushed through a degree and all of that. I would have passed through it. Yeah, I'm glad that I didn't do this. I wouldn't have met half the people I've met either. I had a Greek meetup going for a while. I would have been too busy with that if I focused so heavily on college. I like the idea of work + self-studies for me.

    I'm still frustrated a bit with the university/college structures for my goals. Like, I'm looking at this Mathematics+Philosophy path, but it's a challenge. I don't necessarily like the curriculum layout. This is why I still haven't completed a degree after all of these years, but actually I'm kind of glad that I didn't rush it.

    @kai Same with music. We shouldn't necessarily take a full historical progression approach to learning music, but having a context for understanding musicians is important.

    @zacts music can be taught badly. Some say that it cannot be taught at all - that one can only create a good environment for music learning to happen.

    Imagine a conversation about something interesting where algebraic concepts emerge as essential vocabulary.
