We bought a cast iron griddle for our upcoming camping trip. I've never cooked with cast iron before. I'm looking forward to it.
In preparation, I dermmeled off all the sharp bits at the casting lines, and I sanded the whole thing down with 50 grit. I'm seasoning it with shortening (because that's what Martha Stewart said to use). It looks pretty good after the first coat. I will give it two more before trying it out.
@murph Sometimes (and this is my favorite) I'm going around a sharp right hand corner, such as an intersection, and a bike shows up somewhere to my left. I can't let go, because I'm using my right hand to hold the bike over and I'll need my left hand to stand the bike up. So I wave with my foot. @pla@kelbot
@pla I always wave to other motorcycles, unless my left hand is busy with the clutch, or steering pretty hard to the left. But what they ride determines how I wave. Most bikes get a regular wave. Suzuki V-Twins (like mine) get a "V" or peace sign. Someone riding fast on a good road gets a fist pump. Someone on a sport bike wearing full protective gear gets "The Wave," as in the break dancing move, but then I also wave my hand.
@pla It's the same thing on motorcycles. When I started riding in the 90s everybody waved. Now Harley riders tend not to wave back very often, and sometimes not even to each other. Sport bikes sometimes don't wave back, but usually do. Adventure bike riders almost always wave back. When my wife is riding with me everyone waves. It might just be me.
