I've decided to live as a bed from now on.

Whoa, I am binge watching #UnbreakableKimmySchmidt, and there is like, a building being built, kinda in the background...? This show is sooo fun! No one told me it was about PTSD.

OMFG, that is from Kimmy Schmidt, and it probably the best line I've ever heard to describe my default mode. ^_^

I'm like a lollipop with a question mark on its wrapper. I don't know what's going on inside.

@hnb Off the top of my head:
* A network protocol
* A school mascot
* A creature, of course
* Someone to go'pher things, like coffee runs
* Nickname for Gophernicus, Archduke of the 11th Layer of the Abyss (Molrat) -

I grew up in America, so I am acclimated to the foods, even by region (I am well-traveled in these United States).
But even I look at filling a bowl with processed, shaped grains and covering it in milk-substance as strange and foreign.
At least it curbs breakfast masturbation.

Imagine two people telling you about keywords: a librarian and an SEO consultant.
One will tell you that knowledge can be structured for easy retrieval, and should therefore be prepared in a way that assists in future humans finding what they *need*.
The other will tell you it is a useless field of metadata, but if you insist on using it here are the ways to game "the system"...

@maiki @baldur Inria is an example research lab, and they do many interesting things, but are mostly science'y oriented with software freedom as a side effect IIUC. It would be good to have something similar, but with addressing critical software freedom needs as the primary target.

Didja know I have a teacher's photo id? Legit! I can get discounts at nowhere, because teachers are treated like shit in this country, but my actual point is that maybe I can be okay being interested in educational technology from the perspective of a teacher. I mean, I home school. I... I am probably a teacher.

@Greg Thanks! I had looked at them, but couldn't get a read otherwise. We are looking at a place up around Sacramento, but I'd love to diversify the hardware, send backups offsite, that kinda thing.
So with that server, was it that no one could make it down to SJ to fix an issue? I totally understand that, just want to make sure it wasn't due to lack of access or accommodation by the coop.

@maiki https://iocoop.org/ is a decent #coop option (where rose.makesad.us was for a while).

@satchmoz That said, Clover does have a six year-olds' mild fascination with boobs. Constantly refers to the tiny Taj Mahal figure as the "tower of boobs". So adorable, and yet so embarrassing as a parent...

@satchmoz Wow, I realized I hadn't played a JRPG in quite some time... but I've had that thought in general of Japanese media.
That regional industry really messes up my ability to share non-Ghibli anime suggestions. Who knew a company could set itself apart by treating all the characters as people and merely telling interesting stories!
It also means that a huge amount of interesting work is lost to our family, as I am never going to put that in front of Clover.

@cwebber @baldur
> We don't have a general R&D lab focused on user freedom.I love that idea. What are similar labs? You have something in mind, and I want to see what that looks like.

Β«In 1993, John Gilmore famously said that "The Internet interprets censorship as damage and routes around it." That was technically true when he said it but only because the routing structure of the Internet was so distributed. As centralization increases, the Internet loses that robustness, and censorship by governments and companies becomes easier.Β»
