That may already be possible, but alas I spent too much time obsessing over software and not enough time creating already lol

It issss really nice to use supercollider from within org babel's code blocks in emacs though (which I do on linux). It allows creating a tree that I can group similar synths in and organize modular pieces together in ways that makes sooooooooooooooo much more sense then just making tons of seperate supercollider files with no context between them.

My dream for linux audio is a distro that boots directly into a daw that I could use on stage without a monitor or keyboard...

I love open source software, but at this point I have invested years into learning and obtaining windows VSTs (audio plugins) so it is a bit hard to justify the leap to linux yet. Especially since with my audio interface the drivers allow a lower latency then what I can get with linux (just a question of development invested, nothing inherently superior to windows, not by a longshot lol). I use reaper and I believe there is a linux version now though.

It really annoys me that people casually attach the term "masturbatory" to things to criticize them as... selfish?

I dont care that when people do this they arent actually trying to comment on sexuality, it indirectly shames the most harmless and abundant form of sexuality.

Also as a theater person sometimes I hear "No one wants to watch people masturbate on stage" and I just think in my head "That is LITERALLY an untrue statement".

I would definitely say I am more of a musician and artist then a programmer. I have taken a programming class and I ocassionally use the audio programming language supercollider but I am all around not that technical.

I have a dualboot linux and windows laptop that I setup maybe about a year ago at this point and I am very happy with linux (manjaro)

    @ThatWallflower
"Africa's geography makes it particularly vulnerable to climate change, and seventy per cent of the population rely on rain-fed agriculture for their livelihoods. Tanzania's official report on climate change suggests that the areas that usually get two rainfalls in the year will probably get more, and those that get only one rainy season will get far less. As of 2005, the net result was expected to be that 33% less maize—the country's staple crop—would be grown"

@ThatWallflower My understanding is that with more energy in the climate system (i.e. heat) the fluctuations will be greater, so droughts will become worse.

There is also the fact that many climate systems might shift and change. Areas that formerly got more precipitation might get less even if on the whole evaporation is greater globally.

Okkkk, well the band I always feel most compelled to recommend even though it isnt necessarily the type of music I listen to most is Hiatus Kaiyote. Specifically the album Choose Your Own Weapon.

I dont even especially love their aesthetic or even genre that much (tho I do like it) its just their songs are incredibly rich and varied while still being warm and approachable.

If you flip the coin and decide to do the action you should roll a d20 to see how well you do the action and then commit to actually doing the action with that amount of proficiency.

After a nice long run at things, objective reality is officially not a thing anymore.

    Thanks for maintaining toot.cafe!

Honestly this place brings me a lot of happiness, and yah the fediverse is tiny but it exists...

...which is a huge victory given how silo'd everything has gotten and most people don't really care.

I also wonder about fediverse meetups, I am kind of terrified of the idea but also I think the fediverse attracts generally really interesting people.

Ok so, every once in awhile I realize irish folk music is absolutely stunningly beautiful.

But then I try to find good artists and I feel like I am just stumbling into lots of popular sexy people playing it safe and doing a good polished job and that isn't what I want.

Does anyone have any good bandcamp recommendations for irish folk music type stuff that is really good?
