@jasper Regarding the notation about one group being additive and the other multiplicative. I think that it's either
1. Just to make it easy to see which group you are working in.

or perhaps

2. One is over an elliptic curve and the other Z_p

The paper itself does not say anything about the groups, themselves as long as some variant of the Diffie Hellman Problem holds in them

@jasper I recently met someone who was in my class when I did my MSc.

They are now studying a Phd, and said that certificateless public key cryptography is useful in low power devices, e.g. IoT things.

I think they want some help with the math, understanding how keys are generated, etc..

So they have sent me a list of papers to read. That was the first one.

The math is not too complicated, but I find the notation a pain.

Also, all the fuss over the group operation being additive in G_1 and multiplicative in G_2 seems such a faff.

The lecturer said that for a tensor of rank m over a finite dimensional vector space the number of components is 


${m^{dim V}}$

So I looked at that for several hours! and could not understand it.

Well of course I thought about it now and it's obviously ${(dim V)}^m$

But I spent ages trying to convince myself that the incorrect thing was true.

I was watching a lecture last night, about vector spaces and tensors. The lecture was great. I've never been very good at tensors, and struggled at that bit whilst at school.

Anyway this lecture made it all super clear, and it was a great introduction to them. HOWEVER the lecturer makes a mistake in a small detail, whilsts discussing the number of components in a tensor with respect to a basis across the vector space.
