I'm amused by how different artists have so completely different versions of the traditional song, "Hares on the Mountain." All the way from "happy drinking song in early spring" to "a song for travelling the woods" to "my beloved lies in the cold ground now" to "the King's troops have put down Wolfe Tone's rebellion with shot and sword."
So basically hobgoblins are That Guy From Your High School Who Wanted to Be a Marine, who you'd find doing one-handed pushups, memorizing AFV details or practicing katas
AND YET SOMEHOW he was less badass than the guy who was good at picking locks and wing tsun before he got bored with that and was pretty good at escrima before he decided he was more into weed and microwave burritos. That's bugbears.
It's so sad that horses have become a thing for the well off in a way that they weren't even in feudal Europe. Beings seen by the rest of us at festivals or met on the trail while hiking. In a different age and place your horse is your life, their personalities and talents are what lets you travel, fight and survive.
What I don't quite understand is how Monty Python and the Holy Grail which hit theaters in 1975, winds up being such a perfect parody of Excalibur, which was released in 1981.
“Porkins old boy, you’re a popular fellow. Care for help with your following?” “Oh no bother. No boooootheeee....” FWOOOM!
*pushes more blocks around map of southern Britain * *phones ring* “Death Star in range in five minutes.” “Red Leader, we count thirty bogies headed your way over the drink, I’d say 109s.”
“Luke, check your high six.” “Can’t shake him. Oh DO pot that fellow Biggs, there’s a love.” “Good shot Wedge.” “Damn fine shot.” “Rather!”
@drwho I hope that by now every Jew in the USA understands that REPUBLICANS AREN’T OUR FRIENDS, never have been and never will be, but that’s a little too optimistic.
If you want to make cartoons about humans with animal bodies you’ll need a directaur, a team of animataurs, some voice actaurs, and it doesn’t hurt if you have a stirring orchestaural soundtrack.
@KawaSeadrake Like one thing I know about Sweden is they have this idea of lagom - you "win" when you're basically comfy, rather than being fabulously rich and showing unprecedented gains all the damn time.
It strikes me that a society which has that sort of take is one a lot more emotionally ready to have more regulation, more social safety net, and more taxes.
