@SwooshyCueb oh also i guess having two different cameras means you can basically have two different types of built-in "lenses" for different types of pictures, but i'm not sure that it actually matters that much considering they're tiny phone cameras.

@SwooshyCueb basically you can use two mediocre cameras to simulate the quality of one higher-quality camera. i don't trust it tbh.

@SwooshyCueb depth of field, but also, you can use multiple cameras to take a picture, stitch it together, and have a better quality image because of more angles of light being captured, different areas having focus in each lens, etc

we will never achieve a 100% perfect piece of media that is the objective guide for how we should live. so never consider any piece of media you consume to be the ultimate authority on any ideas.

at the end of the day, there are people behind that media, people that are flawed just like the rest of us. people that want their ideas to come out on top, want the audience to feel/think the way they do, and they will set up their media to achieve that.

we can try to make as accurate a representation of society as we'd like, we can make something incredibly believable to the point where viewers may uphold it as fact and use it as evidence for future arguments.

but it will always be biased. it will never be 100% factual. we cannot replicate realistic situations 100%, not even when re-enacting things that actually did happen. there are too many variables

like...there are a lot of things we see in shows like star trek where "oh well, they made this decision and everything turned out great, must be the best decision to make irl too"

except the writers of the show purposefully wrote things in a way that would make that decision look favourable. they are not displaying reality, but their imagined idea of how they'd like that situation to go. the conflict and resolution and everything in between, are fabricated.

do you ever think about how your favourite shows are tailor-made to cater to a specific set of ideas and goals, even if that show on the surface is supposed to just be something light-hearted?

every piece of media, no matter how simple, has some sort of message that holds the bias of its creators, and it's super duper important to be critical of everything you consume

individuals can create propaganda just like the state can, even unknowingly

yeah idc how much fun people have with fireworks, i do not like them one bit because so many people set them off irresponsibly and without asking those who are bothered by them if it's okay to do around them.

that's a real example of trauma and mental health being worsened by something people do on a regular basis

i think they should only be set off in areas where everyone is 100% sure that nobody around will have a panic attack thanks to ptsd, or at the very least have permission from anyone in the vicinity struggling with related trauma to go ahead and set them off anyway

there are plenty of unpopulated areas and large properties where they can be set off safely. setting them off in densely populated urban areas is ignorant, rude, and dangerous

i have yet to play any splatoon today. i've wanted to but i also wanted to get some chores done first and now it's late

despite that i've been doing some chores. gave willow a bath, cleaned off the top of the fridge, made pasta w/ white cheese sauce for dinner, and washed all the bedding and towels

huh, i think i just discovered my first switter bot

so a massive lump has been forming in my armpit the past few days, which is pretty common for me, except this is possibly the biggest one i've gotten yet and it is extremely painful

it's about as long as a quarter and nearly as thick as my pinky finger is. there's not much i can do beyond taking a painkiller and waiting for it to go away, but it really sucks

wish i could just pop it, but it's not quite as easy as popping a pimple
