i'm heavily considering setting up my own pleroma instance since they're so lightweight, and i could probably get a raspi eventually to host it if i end up liking it

i'm airing out the house because it's disgusting in here and that means i get to deal with the heat while doing chores. chores that involve hot water. and our cold water doesn't work in the kitchen. rip me lmao

almost finished doing the dishes, still got a disgusting af slow cooker to clean out. poured out the moldy, putrid remains of the cream-based soup within and letting the ceramic pot soak for a little bit to make sure the smell and anything else is lifted out of it

ICE is a convenient group to blame for all these atrocities but we forget that ICE was made because the government wanted it, and because the people that voted for them and donated to them demanded it.

our system is absolutely fucked and it's up to us to do something, because nobody else will, and because it's our responsibility.

we haven't done anything but cause the president to do something trivial to try and shut us up, to stem any backlash.

this isn't a win, this is a distraction.

and protesting isn't enough. especially peaceful protest.

we need to do more, rather than use this as an excuse to do less.

so, ICE may no longer be allowed, on paper, to separate families.

BUT THIS ISN'T EVEN CLOSE TO OVER

ICE needs to be dismantled, but so do the systems that allow/encourage groups like ICE to form and operate in the first place.

incarceration and deportation of migrants is inhumane period.

also how do we know ICE is even gonna play by the rules? have we not learned anything from how people in power act, cops for instance? our president? c'mon now

@garbados why even stop there? ICE isn't the only problem. we need to address the system that allowed for/encouraged this in the first place.

@artik i've yet to try pleroma myself but i've heard about post privacy and visibility settings not being up to snuff, off the top of my head.

@monorail names are basically what we're used to. gotta pick a name that's like "yeah i could live with that more than like, most other names" and then once you use it for a little while, that's when you start figuring out whether it's an "oh that's me" or "that doesn't sound right..."

@monorail i went over a bunch of lists of baby names as well as made a list of any names i liked that i heard/saw. usually i'm picky about things being super unique but bailey just stood out to me and it stuck

remember that you can change your name at any time, or even use multiple at once. up to you!

the pleroma community may be bad but tbh the software could be extremely helpful to those looking to host their own social media with few resources. apparently pleroma can run on a raspberry pi.

wonder if we could somehow do a fork of that too that implements a bunch of features that are currently lacking compared to masto, and then some.
