A couple friends were giving it a try, and it seemed like a good idea.
... Huh. I figured there would be more drama in that. Oh, well; true's true.

@tessaracht :-(

@reservoircat Hello!
for(int i=0;i<256*256*256;i++) <- I mean honest to god what was I even thinking doing that
Nothing like that feeling of checking in with the wayback machine to see what you used to write for your old job.
Hey, code people, if you haven't noticed we've got a lot more disk space now than when we did in the 80's, we can fit big words like "accessibility" and "internationalisation" without having to truncate them
Would probably help with readability, or as you fuckers would probably put it "r9y"
NY Post: "Millennials are now living in pods in their parents' yards"
Boring response: "no, we're not"
Snarky response: "Only because they're shaped like avocados."
Next-level response: "Be seeing you."
has anyone made a utility, similar to those that exist for Twitter, for screening followers to see whom you haven't followed back, and screens those whom you follow to see who isn't following you? it'd be really useful since there doesn't seem to be _any_ way to find that out without laborious hand-checking.
@kara ☹️ I'd be sad to see you go.
Ontario conservatives just scrapped a 3 year year test UBI program that they promised they wouldn't touch in the campaign.

Not only is it fiscally foolish to cancel the program, it is also horribly cruel.
@twitter ... but then I took an arrow to the knee
wait, wrong joke
"So, in the interests of a11y---"
"Wait, what?"
"Accessibility."
"Oh, like y15e."
"Huh?"
"You know, yyuryyubicuryy4me."
"...Damn you."
Reminder: don't use "a11y". That abbreviation is ITSELF inaccessible.
Type "accessibility" out. If you absolutely won't type those nine characters, at least macro "a11y" to "accessibility". #a11y #accessibility
@rheall The quiet pleasures of finding historical arcana in dusty old science books.
do you think there's a literal physical knob at twitter they can use to control how many "haha this tweet really blew up, please check out my other thing" tweets get posted every day
@Shufei This reminded me of a thought I had when /Armada/ came out: what if a story took Ernest Cline's fantasies and played them absolutely straight, like /Evangelion/ did for the conventions of giant-robot anime or /Madoka Magica/ did for the magical-girl genre?
CW for PTSD mention: https://www.sunclipse.org/?p=1974

This really is a delightful takedown of Ready Player One and the entire California Ideology undergirding it.
When societies slide from Horatio Alger to Orphan Annie / Slumdog Millionaire fantasies, it's an oft missed warning sign that the elites themselves have even given up on working things out.
@pzmyers He was spouting dreck in a book review at the NYT just the other day --- a third-rate intellectual, selling a mixtape of quotations from better writers, and the epicenter of a proto-#MeToo. And nobody gives a damn.
😠
If you had asked me to pick which of /Ghostbusters/ and /Ocean's 11/ would provoke the worse hostility when given the gender-flip treatment, I would totally have guessed wrong.
Forbes: "Millennials aren't having kids, and this is a problem for baby boomers' real estate and retirement"
Me: [looks at state of the world]
Me: "..."
Me: "Fuckin' serves you right."
