"Summer at the Edge of the Universe is a solarpunk lesbian visual novel. After several years without talking, a chance encounter brings four best friends back together for the journey of a lifetime. For Summer Nansen, this trip is a chance to not only rekindle old friendships, but also to discover what it is she wants out of life. Joined by the spunky robot Curiosity, the four girls travel from planet to planet, exploring the natural wonders and diverse alien cultures that they come across. Their journey culminates at the borderline of existence itself: the very edge of the universe."

Coming "Summer 2021" to macOS, Linux, Windows, Switch, and PS4.

The Guardian can be dreadfully flawed, so often. But here - they did well. ^_^

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/oct/19/peoples-vote--march-a-very-british-rebellion-in-the-rain

"The prime minister had attempted to choreograph his “Super Saturday” session of parliament in the tradition of previous crisis-sittings, those that had assembled for debate about war in 1939 and conflict in Suez in 1956 and the Falklands in 1982.

This time, in Johnson’s telling, the battle lines were drawn between parliament and the people. By “people” Johnson meant that section of the population identified by Nigel Farage on the morning after the referendum vote when, in announcing his poundshop “independence day”, he had talked of Brexit as a victory for “real people, a victory for ordinary people, a victory for decent people.”

Among the most dangerous themes of that politics of division has been to tell some parts of the population that they are more grounded here in blood and in soil than others. The hundreds of thousands of very real people determined to march once more in London told a very different, more inclusive, island story. One that cuts across borders of politics and circumstance and region. And if ministers had wanted to see the will of those people in full force, they could have looked out of the windows of the Palace of Westminster."

I never want to hear Boris Johnson or any other Brexiteer say again that the European Union is undemocratic."

"Hale says prorogation is not a proceeding in parliament.

Although it takes place in parliament, it is not their decision. It is something that has been imposed on them from outside.

The PM’s advice to Her Majesty was “unlawful, void and of no effect”.

That means the order in council was also “unlawful, void and of no effect”.

That means the prorogation had no effect. She says it is as if the royal commission had no effect.

Parliament has not been prorogued, she says.

She says it is for the Speaker to decide what happens next."

The Court decided unanimously that the matter is justiciable, and that "prorogation will be unlawful if it has the effect of preventing parliament form being able to carry out its constitutional functions", and, that the "prolonged" suspension was "unusual", and that "the effects on the fundamentals of democracy was extreme".

"Hale says the court is “bound to conclude that the decision to advise her Majest to prorogue parliament was unlawful”."

    IT IS UNLAWFUL!

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/live/2019/sep/24/brexit-supreme-court-latest-news-labour-conference-starmer-says-it-is-obvious-labour-will-back-remain-despite-conference-vote-live-news?page=with:block-5d89e4cf8f08f9df5bdda57c#block-5d89e4cf8f08f9df5bdda57c

(Fascinatingly, the Court's website is positively crawling along)

Possible outcomes, per David Allen Green:

    ==
    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/live/2019/sep/24/brexit-supreme-court-latest-news-labour-conference-starmer-says-it-is-obvious-labour-will-back-remain-despite-conference-vote-live-news?page=with:block-5d89e06d8f08f9df5bdda553#block-5d89e06d8f08f9df5bdda553

    Non-justiciable - government win

Justiciable but lawful - government win (though court may say "careful now")

Justiciable and declaration of unlawfulness - government defeat

Above, with coercive order and/or finding of improper motive - bad government defeat

Hey y'all. My girlfriend is helping out with summer camp at her church and is deeply hurt because the church, which is usually so accepting, is insisting on deadnaming a 4 year old trans girl. She's told the leadership that this bothers her and they've said they're willing to talk with her. She wants to bring resources to demonstrate why this is so bad. She's mentioned scientific studies, but I was wondering if anyone out there could provide some trans voices on the issue. TIA!

@wlwthewisp It's an aspect of life that's so fulfilling, yet often barred from so many, for want of time and/or energy, faced with the constant need to survive in a relentlessly capitalistic world.

Still, things are certainly /better/ for the ascendancy of the net, not least - despite their corporate parentage - YouTube, where it's possible to learn so much, whether in more academic matters, presented by traditional instutitions under free learning programs, or simply individuals wanting to share their knowledge on anything from music theory to makeup. Technology opens up such possibilities!

Once again, the weekly rite begins. Ralph the Laundry Lion has been stuffed to the gills with dirty launder, then strapped to the ceremonial palanquin, that he and his shame might be paraded through the streets for all to see.

I’m an hour or two, the laundry will be clean. But Ralph’s soul will remain eternally soiled. Look at that smile. He’s loving this.

@tsturm Oof, unfortunate! Still, you could replace it very cheaply now - as you now, they remain solid bodies. If you could benefit from better AF and high burst rate, a used D500 would be a fine choice; otherwise, a used D7100 would be fairly cheap, and a nice bump up from the D90.
