@andi I like that. It's /simple/, through familiarity - in a conversation, that'll mean less time/thought spent on their part working out what you mean, and more simply getting on with the conversation.

@nighth0ps Very much so. Here, instances have no interest in analysing what you do, or "optimizing" what you see - and with that comes a sense of community, across instances, I haven't felt since the heyday of Usenet. It's *wonderful*. ^_^

@BalooUriza A common syndrome in general - over-optimization for cost leading to flawed final products, but usually paying off short term for the executives.

With any luck, they'll be but the first of many car makers to fall from power.

@VyrCossont Ah? I'll take a look. Definitely, I like seeing creators making digital versions of their compilations available - so much easier to keep readily available, on the bus or a flight, or in the bath, let alone monster works like Grzimek's Animal Life Encyclopedia, with coverage of every species, including many photos - the print edition's some 20 hefty tomes, whilst the digital edition's just under 1GB in total. ^_^

I should be heading off for the moment - brain feels like it's entering shutdown for the day/night. ^_^;

@VyrCossont Argh, indeed. At least Western TV animation's enjoying quite a boom time at the moment, helping overcome the stale impression that animation's all for kids, from adult fare like Tuca & Bertie, to works like Hilda and She-Ra, which manage that Dr Who-like feat of appealing to a broad age range.

I'll happily admit I *do* enjoy the wonderment of the latter, regardless. There deserves to be more of that for adult audiences. ^_^

I keep wishing comics like Goodbye to Halos had wikis able to give full background on why some plot point is significant, able to just bring me to the McGuffin's own page, showing info like where it's appeared. Even a much more straightforward work like Space Boy's been running long enough now, and only weekly, that a running synopsis to make revisiting particular moments easier than trawling through the archive thumbnails would be so helpful. (Even being able to trivially download the whole run would be useful, scanning through a /local/ archive being that much more nimble)

I may try going through all of GtH and making notes, perhaps with the help of the comments - there's been a lot of insight offered there, including translations of signage. Maybe The Property of Hate as well, though as complex a world as that is, having a small central cast helps me.

@VyrCossont Ahh, this! I want AR glasses so I can be reminded that person really *is* the same as a couple episodes ago, rather than having to spend time rebuilding their profile from context.

Being able to check back through their profile to fit some current clue into context would be pretty cool, too. Especially with plot-heavy comics like Goodbye to Halos - I love it, but there's so much to try keeping track of.
