@noelle @zigg Eeeee! **hug** That's wonderful! I'm going to have to see if they have the others I read there regularly, especially Bloom County (though that's been very inconsistent in its current run) and Scenes from a Multiverse.

@zigg It's one of my regulars - surprisingly fresh for a strip that old. ^_^ If only the site offered RSS feeds, though..

Anyone know the name of the UK podcast where two drag queens come to terms with the realization that they're both transgender?

So, here’s a cover of YMCA you might not have heard before..
“The Galactic Symposium were a group from Nottingham, UK formed "by mistake" in 1979. All five members were competent musicians, except they decided to disallow themselves from playing the instruments they could play competently for the 'symposium'. So, the semi-skilled punk rock guitarist became the slightly-better-than Shaggs drummer, etc.”

Another piece of electropop, this time bassline-driven, somewhat akin to Tei Shi.

This is punk, but quite a bit slower and more melodic than most.

@tessaracht Aw, damn, yes.. that's not long off. At least you'll be able to see each other now and then - hardly the same thing, but.. how wonderful to have someone so special in your life. ^_^
But that means I get to see you again? =:D Eeeeeee! Oh, gods, I'm so looking forward to that!
I wonder if I'll be celebrating landing this current prospect by then? ^_^

One tiny addendum on “nobody would choose to be a woman if they knew what that meant.”
I’m not sure that most people would *choose* to be left-handed, either, but choice doesn’t enter into it. I don’t “feel” right-handed, I *am* right-handed. I KNOW that I am. I don’t know it because I ascribe right-handed qualities to myself: it’s just there and it is what it is. I can deny it, even force myself to use the opposite hand. It’s still there. -

The world is a better place because people who don't know how to write computer programs and would struggle to learn if they tried are able to do things on computers anyway.
Interactive fiction is better because Twine meant that non-programmers could make text-based story games.
Electronic music is better because DAWs and synths and MIDI mean that non-electrical engineers can design sounds and build them into full tracks.
The visual arts are better because graphics software and tablets mean that non-chemists can produce images without manufacturing their own inks and paints.
Members of the free-and-open-source software community have a lot to say about allowing people to write their own software for their own purposes, but the world we live in is better for the ways in which it empowers people who can't.

as an immigrant to the UK who never really cared to learn to speak like a native, i'm sometimes asked "where are you from?"
and recently i started answering with "Poland, you?", which seems to put people off guard?
and then i ask them more questions, of the kind i would normally be asked myself, like "oh, so you've been living here your whole life?"
which usually leads to a nice small talk but also normalises the idea of us being equals instead of you being my fucking host -

So two important things I learned:
A: there’s never just one of whatever you are, no matter how much you differ from your apparent peers
B: Find the boat-builders, they’re the people best equipped to help you build your boat! -

@VyrCossont I'm afraid not - I've never actually made custard myself. ^_^; (Seen it prepared on MasterChef plenty of times, though =:)
Ah, to have a real kitchen again, with *space* to indulge in such reckless extravagances as rolling out dough, or having each of many elements all at hand for maki. And I'd love to try making my own pasta sometime.. the fresh stuff at Molinari's is *so* different to the stuff in supermarkets - tasty just by itself!

For breakfast, I thought I'd try out the Tesco TVP I bought last week, so, into the wok with a big lump of it, and a tin of chopped tomatoes. Then: garlic paste, oregano, basil, cayenne, cumin, Sriracha, black pepper, oyster sauce, and coriander.
Also added some baby corn and mangetout, and a few chopped chestnut mushrooms.
Toward the end, in with some rosecoco and cannelini beans, Dijon, and a little balsamic vinegar. Served with brown rice.
Yummy! I'll be buying this TVP again - 500g for £1.49 makes it much cheaper than lean minced beef, as well as being a much more ethical option. It didn't seem to exhibit the same flavor-leeching syndrome as Quorn mince does, beside being quite a bit cheaper.
Of course, chili's the easier option, as any inadequacies in the TVP will be masked by the spicing - next time, I'd like to try either a Bolognese sauce, or a cottage pie, and see how it fares when left to take more of the stage. Still, so far, so good!
