    @nolan I'm definitely guilty of this, as one can see in the performance of the compose animation (due to animating margins - https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/pull/4282/files#diff-df11194db95041857395e5ae3fbd9675R3732). Couldn't figure out any other way to achieve it without serious refactoring of the markup.

    @agektmr Thank you! I should point out that while I did the initial pull request for adding IntersectionObserver, Nolan worked out all the browser quirks and filled issues with the rendering engines (both Chakra and Blink). If I am not mistaken, I think he even found some omissions from the standard.

    @agektmr IntersectionObserver (toots are recycled to keep the number of DOM nodes low - though I guess it is not so shiny anymore), inert for the modals (without polyfill so far), passive listeners, `contain` property to some elements to reduce layout/paint 😅
