I put off cancelling under the sunk cost mindset. I registered some of them for a couple years...

So I had to reframe: I'm not throwing ~$40 away. I'm avoiding spending more when I'm at my most vulnerable.

And it tells me I need to get ahead of it and cancel the ones I’m planning to let expire rather than wait for a string of renewal reminders when I’m at the worst point in it. It’s weird. I spent years upset because I couldn’t afford domains for project ideas. Now I can afford so many that it almost got away from me when I needed to focus on one.

Knowing it, I have the power to stop letting it run the show. I can find ways to cope and thrive if I know it’s going to pass

I went over bank records and apparently I make most of my worst spending decisions from September to February. Falls off a cliff in March.

I made one yesterday. Bought a domain for yet another persona. Put it on my list of renewals, all yearly on the day of initial registration, and they’re all in that range. At least this one is in the refund period.

You can imagine this gets more and more complicated to reason about as your waves get fancier. That's why inverting polarity is good, like an artist does on a painting they've been working at to see the flaws.

Try this on your favorite synth. Helm is free and cross-platform. Start up both oscillators with the same kind of wave and invert one. It'll go silent.

Phasing explained with a sine wave: a sine wave works kind of like the wheels on an old steam engine. The engine (oscillator) keeps going in a circle, moving the wave (the thing that connects to the wheels) up and down in time.

Minding panning, amplitude, and phases will get you most of the way.

Reaper has a little button on tracks to invert the phase polarity. The easy button for finding out if you have phase cancellation issues.
