Picked up a Casio CW-50 Disc printer from a local thrift store.

It's not the disk printer I had planned on getting, but it was cheap and if it doesn't work I can still get the one I was planning on getting. (And if it does work, it will likely work a lot better than the one I was planning to get.)

Anyone have any experience with this device under linux or OS X?

Planning a holiday party for my east coast coworkers. There are not many of us, but there are a few I've never met.

I'm looking for suggestions on events we could do.

@returntrip it is possible to run single user with 1GB ram. If be concerned about disk space, and I'd consider something other than mastodon, but ...

I'm not sure 10AM Andrew agrees, at least in the kind of incoherent format they are in. I think I'll make another pass at this.

@cascode the nearby branches do offer silent digitization, but no sound, and they looked at me kind of funny when I mentioned it was for old TV broadcasts.

I don't think I'd want to do Kickstarter or anything like that though, becuase while I'm fairly certain this stuff is all PD, I'm not certain enough to risk a court battle over it.

Which is why I dismissed crowd funding originally...

Ah well. I'm sure I'll figure something out.

This is for the TV show Space Patrol. I should have led with that. It's 2AM and I've been incoherent for a few hours already.

Anyway. I'm not really even sure why I'm posting this. Maybe I'm thinking about crowd funding the preservation efforts, I guess.

That's not a bad idea. I could sell copies of the shows and associated comics, books, radio broadcasts, and reproduction toys to raise money to offset the cost of preservation.
