@ghost_bird i’m swayed by the accessibility argument, that folks already use fucky unicode characters to achieve rich formatting, but doing so fucks with screen readers, etc.

it seems like the consequences of accepting rich text are much broader than i had conceived of (ex: how it impacts the rest of masto’s CSS) but i’m still excited to see it rolling out on some instances
