baking a trending algorithm into masto seems. bad. there are many such algorithms, and picking / implementing one is wrought with choices about how you want to reflect a community's activities -- choices that admins and users alike may make differently.

trending algorithms are cool math but baking a particular one into masto seems worse than developing a plugin system so communities can make these choices for themselves.

As the 'anteeefa' debate happened around last year, I was supportive of the concept but was still conflicted about the idea of antifascist violence, but seeing the events within the Alt-Right in the past few months made me realise that it definitely seemed to be working. And it forced me to reevaluate my thoughts around violence in society.
