I saw Barbie (2023) and most of what I could say about the message of the movie has already been said by other people with better flair, I'll just note a couple of things:
- I expected the Mattel product placement, but I didn't expect the Chevrolet product placement. It isn't particularly subtle either.
- It is a feminist movie, but they still had to add a #NotAllKen caveat in the character of Allan. They casted Michael Cera for him so it somewhat softens the blow, but I believe the movie could have gone even harder.
