I remember Thief: The Dark Project (1998) has a pretty detailed map of the first level, then the maps become progressively less detailed as the levels become more bizarre.
Video game idea: First person action-stealth where the objectives become less specific and their location less precise as the main character unravels a global conspiracy that leaves them stranded from their initial tactical support. Starts with a hi-tech PDA with a laundry list of concise objectives, detailed map and GPS-accurate coordinates only to devolve into vague handwritten notes and crude napkin sketches for maps.
@đŞđˇGĂśtterdämmerung Thatâs much earlier than me, Iâm ashamed to admit, but I never had a strong conviction France was better than any other country. However later own the line I ended up disappointed it didnât hold up to its own motto (Freedom, Equality, Fraternity) and its self appointment as a beacon for the Lumières philosophy.
For car rides my partner uses Lyft in New York City, and when she travels for work in Texas she uses Uber because Lyft isnât as prominent there. And while she has a spotless passenger record in Lyft, she has âonlyâ an average of 4.3 stars in Uber, which is apparently enough in Texas to be rejected by drivers.
She wasnât sure of the reason behind this discrepancy until it hit her: she never engages in small talk with her drivers. And while in New York it is expected, even welcomed by drivers, it might earn you a bad mark in Texas where the US Southern fake friendliness is an unspoken social rule that can get you in trouble if you donât abide by it.
Do I need to point out that this fake friendliness reinforces the power dynamics already in favor of men, mostly white?
@Matthew Graybosch I hear you, but other platforms have support for the twitter: and og: meta namespaces, so it is worthwhile in my view to implement them.
Game designers, please don't ask me to take actions that can have consequences on the whole scenario on its very first turn. I do not deal well with this kind of pressure.
My company recently internally promoted using Microsoft Copilot for Web including to "Generate creative content (such as poems, stories, songs, and more).". I replied to the Slack message some snarky questions about author consent to have their work used by the LLM tool, after which I was directed to an internal feedback form about LLM usage.
I repeated my question "Do we have the details on the dataset Copilot was trained on and if the relevant authors were asked for their work to be used, especially for the âcreative content generationâ part?" and I received a personal response from the Senior Vice President of End User Technology & Experience that "No data is tracked, sent to LLM models and microsoft doesnt (sic) know what we ask and return".
I was initially only venting, but the escalation culminating in a non sequitur has made me even more frustrated.
If you were wondering what playdates are looking like in Brooklyn these days, they consist in bringing your iPad to your friend's so you can play a Minecraft clone in Roblox online together in the same room while your iPad is plugged to the nearest outlet you can find, which means you may end up playing on the floor.
